During this wonderful combined tour to Romania and Bulgaria you will cross the Danube river over the bridge between Ruse and Gurgevo, you will see the best tourist places in both countries, you will feel two different Balkan cultures, you will learn to make the difference between them, despite the fact that they are often confused for their common recent communist history and EU membership.
BULGARIA & ROMANIA 12 days / 11 nights
Planned arrival – Sofia (Bulgaria) - Planned departure – Bucharest (Romania)
DAY 1 – SOFIA
Arrival in Sofia. Meet with the guide at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation at centrally located hotel. The rest of the day is free for time at leisure. Overnight in Sofia.
DAY 2 – SOFIA CITY TOUR
Breakfast at hotel. 9:00 Sightseeing tour of the city center: Alexander Nevski Cathedral – largest Orthodox temple in Bulgaria, St. Sofia Church that gave its name to the city, Parliament building, Monument of the Tsar Liberator, Russian Church of St. Nicolas, old Royal Palace, Largoto Square with the building of the old Party House, St. George Rotunda – the oldest building in the city, dating to the times of the Roman empire, Banya Bashi Mosque. (about 2 hours walk). Free time. Overnight inSofia.
DAY 3 – SOFIA – PLOVDIV
Breakfast at hotel. 9:00 Departure for the city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second most important city (2 hours’ drive, 150 km). Sightseeing tour of Old Plovdiv - Ethnographic Museum, Roman Stadium, St. Constantine and Helena Church, the Roman Theatre, which was built in the 1st century AD considered to be the most spectacular Roman construction in Bulgaria. (about 2,5 walking). Check-in at hotel. The rest of the day is free for time at leisure. Overnight in Plovdiv.
DAY 4 - PLOVDIV - NESSEBAR - SUNNY BEACH
Breakfast. 9:00 Departure for the Black Sea Coast. Arrival in Nessebar (4 hour drive) Walking tour in the Old town included in UNESCO World Heritage List. (1 hour walking). Check-In at hotel in Sunny Beach. Free afternoon for sunbathing at the beach. Overnight in Sunny beach.
DAY 5 – SUNNY BEACH
Breakfast. Free day for beach and leisure in Sunny Beach. Overnight in Sunny Beach.
DAY 6 - VELIKO TARNOVO
Breakfast. 9:00 Check-out and departure for Veliko Tarnovo. (5 hours drive). Arrival in Veliko Tarnovo in the early afternoon. Check-in at hotel and short rest. Sightseeing tour of Veliko Tarnovo including a visit of Tsarevets Hill. (about 2 hour walk). Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.
DAY 7 – VELIKO TARNOVO – POJANA BRASOV (ROMANIA)
Breakfast. 9:00 Departure for Romania. Arrival in Pojana Brasov Mountain resort in the afternoon. (6 hour drive) Check-in and overnight at hotel in Pojana Brasov Mountain resort.
DAY 8 – POJANA BRASOV – BRAN - BRASOV – POJANA BRASOV
Breakfast. 9:00 Departure for the Bran castle. (1 hour drive) Visit the castle, residence of Dracul. Continue to the town of Brasov (1,5 hour drive) Tour in Brasov old town - the central square, the famous Black Church, Catherine gate. Overnight in Pojana Brasov Mountain Resort.
DAY 9 – POJANA BRASOV
Breakfast. Free day for relax and leisure in the mountain resort. Possible cable car ride to the mountain peak. Overnight in Pojana Brasov.
DAY 10 - POJANA BRASOV – SINAIA – BUCHAREST
Breakfast. 9:00 Drive to Sinaia. Visit the famous and very beautiful Peles Castle, the residence of Romanian King Carol I. Reach of Bucharest and accommodation. Overnight in Bucharest.
DAY 11 - BUCHAREST
Breakfast. 9:00 Panoramic tour of Bucharest with local guide: old town, Parliament house. Free day time for leisure. Overnight in Bucharest.
DAY 12 - BUCHAREST DEPARTURE
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport and departure.
